 Higher Education Assistance

The Workforce Investment Act was created by Congress to help potential students overcome barriers to success. A federal grant is used to assist students ages 17-21 with up to 24 months of college or training

You may be eligible to receive assistance with some of the following:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Tutoring
  • Internship Opportunities
  • Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
  • Child Care
  • Supportive Services

In addition to other requirements, you must meet at least one of the following criteria to qualify:

  • Have made less than $5415 in the previous six months (if living with parents, this amount increases)
  • Have a diagnosed disability (ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc.)
  • Be in state’s custody or emancipated
  • Have had an open food stamp case within the past 6 months or be eligible for food stamps
